Early Years Art Educator

 

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our creative team, and facilitate our Saturday art program for young children. 

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Working with Beehive staff in planning a curriculum for processed focused, centre based art class for children age 2-5 and their parents.

  • Providing facilitation and guidance for groups of young children through art processes

  • Supporting children in their art work and behaviour, with parental support. 

  • Liaising with parents

  • Setting up before and clean up afterwards.

  • Available to be at classes on Saturday mornings, from 9am-11.30/12, from January to June 2019 (with possible extension)
  • Have, or be able to access a Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check. 

 

Our ideal colleague will be:

 

  • Strong experience in Early Childhood leadership (Education, Child Studies, RECE's or equivalent)

  • Calm, while endlessly enthusiastic and animated
  • Be able to think on their feet – able to respond to a variety of situations

  • Be able to work independently, and use initiative

  • Have experience in process art leadership with children. Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach an asset 

  • Available for regular Saturday morning work. 

 

The Details...

 Classes are on Saturday mornings, during public school term times. Class runs from 10-11am, plus set-up, and clean-up. 

Candidate will be the sole class teacher, children are accompanied by parents for the whole class.

Compensation is $21 per hour, for 2.5 hours each Saturday morning, for 17 weeks.
